Registration beginsMonday, May 17, 2010Adult Introduction to Swimming Basics
This course is designed for the true beginner. Instructors along with small class sizes (max 5) will provide support, guidance, and patience to help you truly enjoy the water. The focus will be on floating, treading, changing body position and comfort in and around the water. We will work on how to move safely through the water, submerging underwater, and moving from a horizontal float o a standing position. Pre-requisite: Needs to be willing to stand in 4 feet of water and get face wet. Minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 participants.
Adult Beginning Swim
This course offers instruction in basic swimming skills for beginners. Learn or improve your crawl stroke, elementary backstroke, backstroke, sidestroke, and breaststroke. Pre-requisite: Needs to be comfortable getting face wet, floating on front and being in shallow water. Minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 participants.
Efficient Freestyle This course will break down the coordination, flexibility, timing, and power of the freestyle stroke to help swimmers learn good form and increase overall efficiency. Drills that teach proper posture, line, and balance will be used to create the desired fluid motion when moving through the water. Pre-requisite: Needs to be able to swim 100 yards of freestyle continuously. Minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 participants.
Pre-Masters: An Introduction to Swim Workouts This program is designed for the adult swimmer who wants to gain swimming endurance. This program will help prepare swimmers for either a Masters Swim Program or for the use of lap swimming as a form of aerobic exercise. Pre-requisite: Students should know the front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke prior to taking this class and be able to swim 500 yards continuously. Minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 participants.
NEW: Adult Open Water Swimming This course will increase your comfort when swimming for extended periods of time in open water, and it is geared towards individuals who are training for a triathlon or a race. You can expect to improve efficiency and build endurance while also learning strategies specific to racing. The class will be taught in a 50 meter pool and buoys will be used to work on turns. Pre-requisite: Needs to be able to swim 500 yards of freestyle continuously.
NEW: Adult Navy SEAL Swim Training This course is challenging, fun and guaranteed to bring your swimming to a new level, whether you are a recreational swimmer or preparing for the Navy SEAL Physical Screening Test (PST). The workout consists of drills and swim sets that will progressively develop the swimmers' mastery of combat side stroke, body dolphin and freestyle. Each workout will end with a short dry-land training session on the deck (sit-ups, pushups, stretching).

MIT Underwater Hockey Underwater Hockey is an exciting and addictive game played at the bottom of a pool with a short stick and a lead puck.No experience or equipment is required (except a bathing suit).
