About Us

Recreation Advisory Committee

Although the Committee is not a policy-making body, the input obtained from the Committee will help shape decisions by keeping the DAPER administration informed on member ideas, perceptions, needs, and desires. In addition, this forum will enhance member relationships and communication.

Composition
The Recreation Advisory Committee will be made up of DAPER members, who primarily participate in informal recreation, group exercise, personal fitness activities, personal training, aquatic programs and activities and recreational events. There are other committees and groups who work on issues in the areas of Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Varsity Athletics and Physical Education. The RAC is made up of DAPER members in the following categories: undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and/or staff, alumni and/or affiliates. The Director of Recreational Sports serves as the Chair and representative from DAPER on the Committee.

Service
Each member of the Committee will serve for a period of no less than one full year. If a Committee member is unable to attend three consecutive meetings or does not pre-notify the Recreational Sports Office Manager of their impending absence, at any time during their term of service, their seat will be considered vacated, and a replacement will be sought to fill their seat.

Meetings
The Committee will schedule meetings once, every other month during the academic year (five times per year), on a day and time established by the group, for a period of time not to exceed 1.5 hours.

Nominations:

  • Individuals may be nominated by staff, Committee members or by groups such as the UA or GSC.
  • Nominees will meet with the Director of Recreational Sports and submit their resume and a brief statement outlining their primary use of DAPER facilities and programs.
  • Nominee information will be presented to the Committee by the Director of Recreational Sports or his/her designee.
  • The Committee will review nominee information and confirm or decline nominees based on the need for representation from the user group that the nominee represents and the primary use of facilities and programs by the nominee.
