The New Youth Learn to Swim Logo & Tips on Booking Your Next Class
There’s a New Beaver on Deck: The MIT Recreation Youth Learn to Swim Program Launches New Branding
Providing exceptional youth swim lessons for families in Cambridge, Boston, and the surrounding community is one of our top priorities at MIT Recreation. We offer more than 170 youth swim classes for our community (you don’t have to be a gym member), and this fall we are introducing a new look! Introducing the official logo for youth, group swim lessons at MIT.
About MIT Recreation Youth Swim Lessons
Our Youth Learn to Swim Program is one of two options for families looking for local youth swim lessons. The program includes group classes with participants starting at 6 months old and follows a curriculum developed by the American Red Cross, which combines fun, safety, and skill development. Classes are organized by age group and skill level, and grouped into three categories:
Our goal is to nurture your child’s journey in the pool and develop an efficient swimming ability, from start to finish. During the parent-child classes, parents will be a big part of that journey by joining their young swimmers in the water. Once children begin to gain their independence and comfort, parents become spectators and our instructors take care of the rest.
How to Join The MIT Recreation Youth Swim Lesson Community
There’s great news – you do not have to be a gym member, or affiliated with MIT, to register for classes. Many of our Youth Learn to Swim classes are filled with a combination of MIT Student Families, MIT Faculty/Staff Families, and local residents from Cambridge, Boston, Somerville, and Brighton/Allston.
You can choose to register for classes as a guest, or as an MIT Recreation member. Members receive discounted rates for classes, but both groups receive towel and locker room amenities.
Choosing the Right Class for Your Young Swimmer
If you are not sure which class is right for your child, take one of our placement tests, based on your child’s age – we will help you make the right selection.
If you are interested in registering for Fall 2017 Q2 classes (scheduled to begin October 29, 2017), then our staff and swim instructors will be available to help you choose a class at the Youth Learn to Swim Program Kick-off Event, Sunday, October 22, 2017. This event will take place at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center, 2:00pm – 4:00pm.
