Rec Week 2025
What’s your favorite thing about recreation? For some in the MIT Community, it’s the endless variety that keeps us feeling challenged. For others it’s the resilience and empowerment we feel from movement that gives us a spark to be successful with day-to-day tasks. Whatever it is that keeps you coming back to play, lift, swim, dance, run, stretch, and move, we hope you take the opportunity to embrace it with other universities across the country on National NIRSA Rec Sports and Fitness Day.
Celebrate with us on February 22, 2025 as MIT recreation celebrates NIRSA #RecDay by hosting #RecWeek! It’s the perfect opportunity to take a break from studying or working and have a little fun. The week will include discounts and FREE activities listed below. Can’t wait for Rec Week? Check out our Q3 Instructional Classes starting in February.
FREE Group Exercise Classes | Saturday 2/22 – Friday 2/28
Join in on the fun with your friends, peers, co-workers, and the rest of the MIT Community. Classes are free for students and members, $10 for nonmembers. Drop-in for your favorites or try them all. To reserve your spot in class, register through the MIT Recreation Mobile App. Classes range from:
Mat Pilates and Barre, Strictly Strength and Bootcamp, Zumba and BollyX, indoor cycling, and a variety of yoga.
10% Off Personal Training | Saturday 2/22 – Friday 2/28
Keep up with your fitness goals and enjoy 10% off all personal training and program design packages. You can purchase these packages online, through the mobile app, or at one of the main desks.

More information to come as of Tuesday 2/4.
Relaunching Private Squash Lessons
We are excited to re-launch private squash lessons to the MIT community! Head to the mobile app to purchase a package, receive your introductory email within one to three business days, then book the first session with your new squash instructor! This is a great indoor sport for all fitness levels.
Ask the Trainer | Tuesday 2/25
Do you have questions about the fitness floor, but aren’t sure where to begin? Come by the Zesiger Center Tuesdays midday to ask the trainer! Our full-time personal trainer, Nichell, will be on the floor to answer questions or to provide a workout of the day. Go chat with her if she’s not with a client!
Reminder: last chance to check out our pilot piece
(Once Rec Day rolls around) You only have a few more days to try out our pilot piece on the second floor at the Zesiger Center! This chest press is made by Technogym. The machine adjusts itself to your measurements, tracks your workouts in sets, reps, and weight, personalizes your resistance based on your goals, and so much more. Come try out this piece designed to train astronauts, Olympians, and students alike!
Open Recreation
Don’t see something you’re interested in? Check out our open recreation page for more information on swimming, ice skating, badminton, basketball, and more!
But wait, what is NIRSA? NIRSA is a national association that “comprises and supports leaders in collegiate recreation.” Each year, schools across the country organize and promote events on campus to celebrate campus recreation.
